"Le sfide della diplomazia italiana"
L'evento è organizzato in occasione della pubblicazione del volume "La diplomazia. - 2010-03-03 Roma, 26 feb. - (Adnkronos) - "Giovani nel Mondo", l'associazione no-profit, creata per dare nuovi spazi ai giovani in Italia e nel mondo, organizza il RomeMun 2010, a Roma dall'1 al 4 marzo. I Mun (Model United Nations) sono degli experience-based programs realizzati al fine insegnare agli studenti e ai neolaureati il lavoro interno alle Nazioni Unite. I partecipanti rappresentano i paesi membri dell'Onu, in un gioco di simulazione diplomatica che riproduce il dibattito di una o piu' commissioni, come veri delegati.

 

Al RomeMun 2010, in cui verra' riprodotta l'assemblea generale dell'Onu, parteciperanno centinaia di ragazzi provenienti da tutto il mondo, accomunati dalla passione per le Organizzazioni Internazionali, i quali affronteranno il macro tema "Come i giovani e l'Onu possono cambiare il mondo".

Why a Model UN in Rome?
  • Relevance of the UN institutions based in Rome
  • Need for a stronger involvement of youth on global issues
  • Bringing a stronger relationship between civil society and UN institutions
  • Facilitating a technical and practical understanding of multilateral diplomacy by students
  • Improving intercultural and social exchange between italiana and international students

RomeMUN is a newly-launched simulation of the UN which will be held from 1-4 March 2010 in the wonderful city of Rome. The conference was born on the exciting idea of bringing hundreds of students from all over the world in the “cradle” of the Western democracy.
The RomeMUN conference will be a simulation of the UN General Assembly. The theme of the 2010 conference will be “How youth and the UN can change the world”. More than 400 students will be invited and selected through a selection test.

The conference will be held in a conference center for 4 days according to the following schedule:

1st day: registration/opening ceremony
2nd day: workshop on Rules of Procedures, Committee sessions
3rd day: committee sessions/delegate dance party
4th day: final voting/closing ceremony

RomeMUN 2010 agenda topics:

“Decrease malnutrition and food scarcity”
“Fighting against climate change”
“The role of youth in fostering intercultural dialogue with immigrants and in combating racism”


When the application procedure is completed, the scientific committee assigns to each couple of students the member state they have to represent in the simulation conference. Two delegates may ask jointly to be representatives of the same member state.

On January 2010 all registered students will receive the preparation materials consisting of the delegate guide and the committee guide. The delegate guide provides details on rules of procedures and the guidelines for preparing the position paper; the committee guide presents an overview on the three agenda topics along with a broad bibliography on each topic in order to help students in their own individual study, and also a chapter entitled how to write resolutions.

Workshop on rules of procedures and agenda topics will be held on the first day of RomeMUN conference.

Youth in the world will issue a certificate of attendance to all delegates, stating either the hours of individual study or those of practical simulation.
